Concert Band
About
The Jurongville Concert Band is a place where students immerse themselves in the world of music while honing essential life skills. Here, music becomes a tool for personal growth, as members learn, perform, and thrive together.
The journey of a Concert Band member is one of continuous learning and growth. Discipline is instilled in every practice session, as students learn to manage their time effectively, balancing academics with their commitment to the band. Preparing for performances requires perseverance, especially when facing challenges such as mastering a difficult piece or performing under pressure. Band members learn to overcome obstacles with determination, a quality that will serve them well in all aspects of life.
In addition to musical and personal development, the Concert Band offers numerous leadership opportunities. Senior members often take on roles as section leaders, drum majors, or part of the band committee. These positions allow students to develop leadership skills, such as communication, decision-making, and mentoring their peers — a valuable experience that builds confidence and prepares students for future challenges.
The Concert Band is also a platform for students to showcase their talents, both within the school and beyond. Our band was part of the schools’ 30th Prize Conferment Ceremony as well as the annual National Day Performance. We are also currently preparing for the 2025 SYF in April. These experiences help shape well-rounded individuals who are not only musically skilled but also poised and self-assured.
Here, you’ll find a supportive community, a chance to grow as both a musician and a person, and countless memories that will last a lifetime.

My 3 years in band had been a fun and educational journey for me. I had the chance to learn more about music while enjoy making music with my friends, seniors and even my juniors. Band is not only a place for me to grow as a musician but also a place for me to develop values such as being responsible and disciplined as I take up larger roles in the band. Our band continued improving despite having to face tight performance deadlines like the ND Parade segment in school right after our 30th Anniversary Performance. It was a challenge but as a band we stayed united and together we overcame it and delivered a great performance. I would also like to thank my teachers and instructors for guiding us through the ups and downs I'm our band journey and helping the band grow stronger.

My years in Jurongville Concert Band has been a new experience for me. It was tough at first, but the friends in band gave me the encouragement to not give up. I have learnt many things not only relating to music, but also in building my character. Band has taught me important values such as discipline, responsibility , respect and perseverance. It is fascinating to see and work with people from different backgrounds coming together as one harmonious band. I really enjoy my experience in band, and I hope others would have the opportunity to do so as well.

My two years in the band have been incredibly memorable, filled with laughter and joy. Through band, I have gained a deeper understanding and connection with music, thanks to the valuable lessons taught by our conductor. These lessons go beyond music, teaching me skills that I can apply in my daily life. This journey has made me a better musician and enhanced my values, such as discipline, responsibility, and teamwork. Additionally, I’ve made new friends, each unique in their own way, and learned how to communicate effectively with them. Lastly, these opportunities were all possible due to our teachers in charge. Their hard work, support, and guidance created a nurturing environment that allowed us to grow and develop
