Girl Guides

About the CCA

As the Guide motto goes, “Be Prepared”, every Guide is imbued with the skills necessary to navigate her way successfully through and out of every situation. When a student is enrolled as a Guide, she has to recite the Promise and to abide by various Guiding principles which will set her on the path to becoming a moral, disciplined, and resourceful individual. The Guiding journey is an enriching and holistic one, filled with a myriad of activities.

In the past year alone, the Jurongville Girl Guides (JVGG) have taken part in Headquarter competitions and events (e.g., the biennial Wee Kim Wee Challenge), fund-raising activities (e.g., GGS Public Cookie Sale), co-organised Division events, planned unit initiatives, and held a 3D2N camp that saw the girls showcasing their trademark Fancy Drill performance at a Division campfire. As a testament of their competence and precision, JVGG also clinched first place in the school’s Inter-UG Fancy Drill Competition in 2016.

Of course, all these do not detract from the core Guide activities such as foot drills, tent-pitching, gadget-making, working on the 5-point programme, badge work etc.  All of these are necessary and essential components that build up a Guide’s capacity, and also serve to help the Guides forge long-lasting friendships with her fellow Guide sisters.
