The Normal (Technical) department organises its programmes in line with the motto of ‘Purposeful, passionate, perseverant’. These three traits are what the department believes will serve the students well throughout their lives.
The programmes conducted by the department include dragon boating, climbing, and even speech and drama activities. This year, the students took part in the Institute of Technical Education’s ignITE Skills Challenge, and participated in various competitions that exposed them to the post-secondary education options available to them. They emerged second in the following four competitions: Nutri on a Penny, Fun Wheels, Mad Mocktail, and the 4x4 Land Rover challenge. They were also shortlisted as finalists for the Dream Glider competition. Overall, the participants put up an excellent showing.
Under the Sports, Tuition and Mentoring Programme organised by the Loving Heart Multi-Service Learning Centre (Jurong), the students were taught Mathematics in a fun manner, picked up hip hop dance skills, and learnt to play the ukelele. This helped to bring joy back into their learning.
