Syllabus

Taking into consideration new lifestyles and consumer trends, the NFS unit aims for every student to be equipped with relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes related to health and financial management.

For the fourth year running, the NFS unit organised an FCE Trail for the Secondary 2 cohort in the first semester of 2017. Through this trail, participants apply the consumer education and nutrition knowledge learnt during lessons. The trail also provided opportunities for the Secondary 3 Food and Nutrition (FN) and Food Studies students to mentor and share their knowledge and skills with their juniors.

This year, we also sent teams to take part in Ignite Challenge. The ignITE Skills Challenge is one of ITE’s moves towards promoting the relevance of STEM and the importance of skills in daily life especially for students in the Normal stream. The food and nutrition challenges include creating mocktails and preparing a simple, nutritious and attractive vegetarian meal. It was an enriching experience for the participants as they got to hone their skills and stretch their potential.  It was also encouraging that at the end of the challenge two of our teams made it to the finals (ranked top 10 teams in Singapore) with one of the teams emerging first runner-up in the final challenge.
